Still Fun, Free and Festive - Suggestions for outdoor dance performances in New York City

It's not over, the outdoor season of free dance. This 27th year of sponsorship by the City of New York, Cultural Council and other departments, is bigger and better than ever. From August 16-24, at Chase Plaza, The Lawn at
Battery Park and at Governors Island, these free concerts begin at 12:00 and run a full 2 hours. They feature several companies in a variety of dance forms on each program. It affords a free and professional presentation for you to explore dance.

Don't miss Valentine Kozlova's Dance Conservatory Company (ballet) at August 16, Saturday, 1-5 p.m. Governor's Island;

Sunday, August 17, 1-5, Governor's Island includes Dances by Isadora (Duncan) and IsadoraNOW, as well as other companies.

Monday and Tuesday, August 18 and 19, at Chase Plaza, noon to 2:00, includes luscious and sensual Indian dance (the oldest art form of dance) at Chase Plaza, curated by the Indo American Arts Council. You will be fascinated by Odissi, Kathak and Bharatanatyam, ancient, yet modern forms.

Wednesday, August 20 at Chase Plaza includes the Battleworks Dance Company; August 21, Ballet Noir and Battery Dance, both at noon to 2:00.
August 22, includes the Flamenco Vivo Carlota Santana group and others.

Saturday, August 23 takes us to The Lawn at Battery Park with Dance China NY and Naganuma Dance; Sunday August 24, at the same lawn at Battery Park and the final performance: Sunday, August 24, 1:00-5:00, at includes Dancewave's Kids Company and IsadoraNOW.

August 9, the entire street at 55th, from 6th to 7th streets will host the Alvin Ailey American Dance Company Theater with performances and free dance classes. Contact: alvinailey.org/free,
