Career Transition For Dancers and the Harbor Conservatory for the Performing Arts, a division of Boys & Girls Harbor, Inc., present WINTER HEAT Latin Dance Party on Monday, March 9, at 7pm at the beautiful Rainbow Room 30 Rockefeller Plaza (49th St. entrance) 65th Floor NYC. This is the 5th joint benefit evening that will once again include dancing to the sounds of the 22-piece Harbor Latin Big Band and a performance by the Harbor Conservatory's Gestures Dance Ensemble, now celebrating their 20th Anniversary that will be choreographed by Tony Meredith and Melanie LaPatin. The Dance Duo of Manuel Favilla and Karolina Paliwoda will also perform. There will also be Latin dance lessons.

The event raises funds to ensure positive futures for those artists both leaving as well as those preparing for dance careers. The Dress code is 'Whatever Makes You dance'. A fun-filled evening of entertainment that will capture the glamour of the sophisticated supper club high above Manhattan, a beautiful sweeping dance floor, food and drink to continue swinging in a new year (7pm Cocktail Hour with Open Bar & Hors d'oeuvres; 8pm Three Course dinner, dancing & entertainment). The Harbor Latin Big Band under the direction of Louis Bauzó has performed with such Latin greats as Tito Puente, Celia Cruz, Johnny Pacheco, Alfredo "Chocolate" Armenteros, and many more.

Celebrating 39 years, Harbor Conservatory for the Performing Arts introduces children to dance and Latin music; and trains Harlem teenagers for future professional performing careers. The Conservatory's Dance and Latin Music Program flourishes with the Tito Puente Scholarships. Studying with professionals the students build a foundation in ballet, modern, jazz, tap, African and folkloric dance. Pre-professional dance students participate in ensembles; learning and performing works by master choreographers. Recognized as the leading school for Latin Music, they offer a curriculum that includes traditional Afro-Caribbean folkloric music, contemporary Salsa and Latin Jazz and is home to the Raices Latin Music Museum. The Conservatory prepares young people for careers in the performing arts; and also helps those who do not pursue this direction to gain life skills and confidence.
