New Website Guide for Spanish artists

by Michelle Brandon
October 8, 2012
New York, NY
Spain Culture New York-Consulate General of Spain, launches new guide on Website: How to Make It

HOW TO MAKE IT is an online guide addressed to Spanish cultural professionals seeking to pursue projects or advance their careers in New York.

The documents available describe the main components of the arts sector in the New York area and offer critical information on its infrastructure and services. It serves as an introduction to discipline-specific guides on architecture and design, film, gastronomy, literature, humanities and science, music, performing arts and visual arts, which are also available online. These guides are informational tools that will serve as starting points for career exploration and cultural exchange.

The team behind the contents of this guide is made of immigrant professionals who moved to New York City years ago and developed their professional careers in the areas they are discussing in their documents. Each of them structured the information based on what was helpful for them when they first arrived to the city, but they also extend it to include recent developments in each of the sectors that they consider important to know.

The How to Make It online guides seek to respond to the increasing demand of information that Spanish artists are requesting from the Consulate General of Spain, to provide complete and consistent information in a systematic way to guide artists in their first incursions into the arts in New York City, and to offer a starting point for artists as they begin exploring what may work best for them and their goals.
