2pm: Indonesian, Northeastern Indian, Bulgarian & Japanese Dances

Portraying sensual movements with martial arts and electrifying rhythms, the Saung Budaya Indonesian Dance Group, led by Amalia Suryani, performs the traditional dances of West Sumatra, Sunda, Borneo, Aceh and Jakarta.

Under the artistic direction of Bani Ray, the Trinayan Odissi Collective revives a classical dance from Orissa, India, exposing audiences to the gracefulness and lyrical beauty that is Odissi.

Inspired by the ancient culture, rituals, and myths of Bulgaria, Elissaveta Iordanova and her Gorana Dance Collective revive the complex beauty of uneven rhythms through a masterfully woven tapestry of dance.

Japanese Folk Dance Institute of New York's Minbuza, under the direction of Momo Suzuki, introduces audiences to the culture and history of Japan and the spirit of the Japanese people with authentic folk dances, music, colorful costumes, and props.

We are able to provide this event through the gracious grant provided to us by the National Endowment of the Arts who was able to provide us partial funding for this event. Help us cover the difference! You can donate at our Crowdrise page at www.crowdrise.com/dacb/fundraiser/lotusmusicanddance or purchase a VIP ticket.
