ChristinaNoel & The Creature presents The Creature's 2016 Gala on Friday, December 9, 2016 from 7-10 pm at Judson Church, 55 Washington Square South NYC, 10012. Following a VIP Champagne Reception beginning at 7pm, The Creature will present new works in progress for May 2017 including a collaboration that will feature the live poetry and music of The Peace Poets. Performances begin at 8pm. The evening will include performances by the kids’ company The Ephyras. Hosted by special guest, writer and storyteller Andrew Linderman, this will be a funky, fancy, and special evening for fellow artists and audience members to get up close and personal with new material and The Creature’s unique Creative process!

What exists that “deserves to be pursued with that passionate ardor which drives us to violate the rules or to corrupt the future tranquility of our minds, either by shame from the remembrance of our own folly, or by remorse from the horror of our own injustice.”

Andrew Linderman (Host) is a writer, storyteller and story coach based in Brooklyn, NY. He teaches storytelling at Media Bistro, General Assembly, the Brooklyn Brainery and New York University, and is the founder of The Story Source, a consultancy that helps artists, business people and entrepreneurs tell compelling stories. His former clients include Google, American Express, Penguin Random House Publishing, PBS, and dozens of small businesses and startups around the world. Prior to founding The Story Source, Andrew served as a story coach with the community and education programs at The Moth, a MacArthur award-winning non-profit dedicated to the craft of storytelling, and trained as an actor and improviser at the Upright Citizens Brigade and the Atlantic Theater Company in New York City. He currently serves as the executive producer of Local Stories, a monthly storytelling series featuring New York City’s funniest writers and performers, and tells stories all over New York City. https://andrewlinderman.com

The Peace Poets - Spoken Word and Beat boxing Musical Ensemble with a socially conscious and political punch. A collective of artists that celebrate, examine and advocate for life through music and poetry. Their art can take you on a journey from the Boogie Down to Berlin, from the border to the bodega. ChristinaNoel & The Creature is a Brooklyn based dance company comprised of dancers, musicians, and visual artists that focuses on creating a hybrid performance medium utilizing the dancers’ voices, bodies, as well as drawing from their perspectives. The resulting medium envelopes viewers visually and aurally in multi-textured environments derived from human connections and encounters. The Creature is dedicated to creating a space that facilitates dialogue and educational outreach by striving to expand conventional ideas of dance performance.

The Creature is driven by Artistic Director & Choreographer, ChristinaNoel Reaves in collaboration with Visual Director & Composer Aeric Meredith-Goujon who participates actively in the creative process. ChristinaNoel & Aeric also collaborate musically to generate original music performed live for Creature pieces.

ChristinaNoel & The Creature debuted in New York City at The Bessie Schoenberg Workshop in 2011 and has presented work at The Flamboyan at The Clemente, Judson Memorial Church, GAP Series, ITE Festival, The Irondale Theater, Teatro LaTEA, Triskelion Arts, Dance Theater of Ireland, Shawbrook School Ireland, the DanceNOW Festival Joe's PUB, LaMama Theater, The Tank, Legros Women in Dance Studio Series, Fete de L'Hurricaine Festival, Dixon Place?s Crossing Boundaries Festivals, Home Audio, and The Hoover Dam Collective Performances. ChristinaNoel originated “Rapture Of The Heroine (guurrrl)” on Zoetic Dance Ensemble of Atlanta in 2012/2013. May 2013 brought The Creature’s inaugural independent concert at Teatro La Tea followed by a successful sophomore season at The Irondale Theater in May 2014. The Creature was invited to present a TedX performance at Martha’s Vineyard in August 2014 on the theme “Insanity, Genius, and The Creative Process”. May 2015 and 2016 held successful third and fourth independent concerts at the Flamboyan Theater at the Clemente Soto Velez Center.
