The UA Chamber Choir and Madrigalchor from the Hochschule fur Musik und Theatre Munchen are joining musical forces to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the end of World War I in a series of concerts and master classes, from March 6-10 on The University of Akron campus. The week culminates in a collaborative performance on Saturday, March 10, at 8 p.m. at E.J. Thomas Performing Arts Hall on the campus of the University of Akron, Akron, Ohio. At this performance, both choirs will be performing works from various parts of the world in a concert celebrating diversity and peace.

The two choirs will combine in performances of Mendelssohn’s Warum Toben die Heiden, Arnesen’s Even When He is Silent, and Moses Hogan’s Didn’t my Lord Deliver Daniel.

Marie Bucoy-Calavan, director of Choral Studies at The University of Akron, conducts the Chamber Choir. The Madrigalchor from the Hochschule fur Musik is conducted by Martin Steidler.

Tickets are $12 general admission and $6 for students, with proceeds benefiting the Chamber Choir’s trip to Germany this spring. For tickets, call 330-253-2488 or visit www.uaevents.com.

Bring your instruments, voices, and good vibes for a very special collaboration between The University of Akron Chamber Choir and Hochschule fu?r Musik und Theater Mu?nchen to celebrate the centenary of the end of World War I. Join us as today’s up-and-coming musicians from Germany and the United States come together in the name of peace in this most special open mic international event.

Watch conducting students from both Germany and Akron receive master class feedback and instruction from Professor Martin Steidler and Dr. Marie Bucoy-Calavan, with the Madrigalchor and UA Chamber Choir as their lab performance ensemble.

The University of Akron Chamber Choir will travel to Germany this spring, performing the same collaborative concert on the campus of the Hochschule fur Musik und Theatre Munchen. The Chamber Choir will be in Germany from May 14-22, performing concerts in Munich, Berlin, and Chemnitz, Akron’s official sister city. The UA Chamber Choir will be part of Chemnitz’s 875th Birthday Celebration, performing at the Schlosskirche, or the city’s “castle church,” on May 19.
