Swing 46 is a swing club that offers live music every night of the week. The food is pretty good. Better than your average club grub. They usually offer free beginner dance lessons. The cover is about $8 or so, which in New York City, for live music, is a steal, even if it is legal.

A friend of mine introduced me to this place. He claimed that there were a large surplus of women looking for partners, but I have been there several times and would advise bringing your own partner. This isn't a studio where people go expecting to dance with people they don't know. If you are a swing person, you could hang out here most nights and leave the "Am I fashionable? I only know how to have a good time if I am drunk." nightcrawling to people who go out at night with only one pair of shoes. If you are a ballroom person, you won't want to come to Swing 46 every night, but it is worth regular repeat visits.

Update: 11/16/00
