Group Motion Dance Company presents INSIDE DANCE A unique look at the inside of dance!
Sunday, March 4th from 5-7pm Community Education Center 3500 Lancaster Avenue in Philadelphia (University City District)
Philadelphia, PA – Group Motion's Inside Dance allows participants to experience the creative process first-hand. Participants will have the opportunity to view the company's performance of a repertory piece (Group Motion will be showing an excerpt of their newest work Quest which premiered March 15-16th at the Arts Bank). Participants will be introduced to the improvisational and compositional structures used in the creation of the piece. Subsequently, participants are invited to either observe or actively participate in a reconstruction process. Finally, when the piece is shown again, participants are able to re-examine the performance with a new understanding. Quest is a collaboration with Philadelphia's Network for New Music and boasts work by renowned composer George Crumb and Philadelphia composer David Ludwig.
This is an exciting opportunity to get an inside look at the innovative and vibrant work that Group Motion is creating! Tickets for this event go on sale February 19th and $10 for students and $20 general admission. To purchase tickets or other information about the workshop/performance, please call (215-387-9895) or e-mail (mrobinson@groupmotion.org).
