The Dance Critics Association's 2008 conference will take place in Washington, DC at The Kennedy Center. A two day program is being planned for Saturday, June 14 and Sunday, June 15 with some preliminary activities PM on Friday, June 13 (review writing workshop, board meeting, reception). That is the week of The Kennedy Center's Ballet Across America presentations (9 companies from around America, 3 per program*) and our sessions too will focus on American dance topics – ballet, of course, but also other forms. Prominent and pertinent dance professionals and critics are being invited to participate as panelists and speakers for the conference. Specifics soon!

A variety of dance will be on Washington's stages that weekend. DCA will send an advance list of these performances (with press contact information and transportation tips) to its mailing list. There will also be an updated list of hotels** in the vicinity of The Kennedy Center.

When, in 1840, Fanny Elssler came to Washington even Congress adjourned to lavish a parade on the great ballerina and see her performance. America's capital has a tradition of celebrating dance!
