The second in a series of evolving performances Dis-Illusions II explores how expectations, beliefs and memories affect our perception and shape our sense of reality. Interspersing stories from the dancer's pasts with shifting movement patterns and dynamics, the dance flows with its own stream of consciousness logic where the sands of reality are constantly changing. Musician Ken Christianson creates a live aural landscape that riffs off of the emotional and kinetic tones in the dance. Working within the adjustable space of the fabulous new venue LA Live Arts, stairs, balconies, internal windows and doors become an perceptual element in how we view and interpret external information. Dis-Illusions is a continuation of Donna Sternberg & Dancers science series, which seeks to build a bridge between dance and science through the artistic interpretation of scientific principles.
