Brooklyn Center for the Performing Arts at Brooklyn College is pleased to announce its 2011-2012 world dance series. Since the inception of the dance series in 1966, more than 175 regional, national and international companies have premiered new works. This season showcases four international dance companies: Compañía Flamenca José Porcel, National Dance Theatre Company of Jamaica, Red Star / Red Army Chorus and Dance Ensemble, and Moscow Festival Ballet. These companies reflect the artistic excellence and cultural diversity to which Brooklyn Center is dedicated.
In addition, Brooklyn Center will present two dance performances for children as part of this season's Target FamilyFun series. Brooklyn Center will also partner with the School of American Ballet to present a free family dance event, The Beauty of Ballet.
"It is an incredibly exciting time for the arts at Brooklyn College," said Lana Rogachevskaya, Managing Director of Brooklyn Center for the Performing Arts. "With construction starting on the brand new Leonard and Claire Tow Performing Arts Center, the College's profile as a destination for world-class arts will be heightened, demonstrating its enduring commitment to both the visual and performing arts. We are delighted to be a part of this process and to share another exceptional season of internationally acclaimed companies and family-friendly dance performances with the Brooklyn College community and the whole borough, all at affordable prices."
