Part of this summer's IndyFringe, Chicago's Tapman Productions' Origin featured superb tap dancing by three Tapmen and a Tapgirl woven into zany episodes about a tap dancing superhero who sings like a Broadway musical star and speaks in gruff Chicago-lese. His nemesis are a pair of peacemakers who don't fare well for their efforts. Kids in the audience seemed to love the antics, obviously a take off from TV cartoons. All of us were wowed by the intricate tap fighting routines along with the breadth of tap dancing across styles, including sand dancing. The production featured original music and tap dance by Tristan Bruns, Kyle Greer, The TapMen, The Cartier Collective, and other guest artists. Tapman Productions was founded in 2010 in Chicago by Tristan Bruns, Zada Cheeks and Martin Bronson. Saturday, 4:30 p.m.; Sunday [Aug. 18], 3 p.m.; Wednesday, 9 p.m.; Thursday, 6 p.m.; Friday, 7:30 p.m.; Sunday [Aug. 25], 7:30 p.m.
