The NYC Dance Educators/UFT present the 12th annual Celebration of Dance: NYC Student Dance Festival, featuring performances created by NYC dance teachers and their students between the ages of 7 and 19. It will be a lively and diverse program — expect to see jazz, tap, hip-hop, African, ballet, salsa and more!

A Special Achievement Award will be presented to Ms. Joan Finkelstein, the director of dance programs for the NYC Department of Education. An immensely effective advocate for dance education, dance educators and NYC public school students, Ms. Finkelstein is leaving the DOE after a 10-year tenure to become the Executive Director of the Harkness Foundation for Dance.

This year's festival will also honor students who are leaders in their school and dance community.

Celebration of Dance: NYC Student Dance Festival takes place at Long Island City High School, 14-30 Broadway on Saturday May 3rd, 2014 at 4:00 pm. Tickets are available at the door only at $5.00 per person. Children under six enter for FREE. Take the N train to the Broadway station. Travel note: L.I.C. HS is an 8-minute walk from the N train. Check www.hopstop.com for details.
