ABT 2015 SUMMER INTENSIVE NATIONAL AUDITION TOUR ANNOUNCED

24 City Audition Tour for ABT Summer Intensive and Collegiate Program to Begin January 3, 2015

Auditions for Young Dancer Summer Workshop to be Held in Select Cities

American Ballet Theatre's Summer Intensive National Audition Tour will kick off January 3, 2015 in Boston, Massachusetts, Phoenix, Arizona and New York, New York and will visit a total of 24 cities through February 1, 2015.

Intermediate and advanced students, ages 9 to 24, are invited to audition for ABT's New York, Collegiate and satellite Summer Intensives, and Young Dancer Summer Workshop.

American Ballet Theatre's 2015 Summer Intensive programs will be held in five locations: New York City (June 22 – July 24), Winston-Salem, North Carolina (June 22 – July 17), Tuscaloosa, Alabama (June 29 – July 18), Austin, Texas (July 6 – July 31) and Orange County, California (July 20 – August 7).

Each site will offer ABT training tailored to the needs of participating dancers.

Under the supervision of American Ballet Theatre's Artistic Director Kevin McKenzie and Summer Intensive Artistic Director Melissa Allen Bowman, ABT Summer Intensives focus on developing well-rounded dancers through exposure to a wide variety of disciplines and ABT's artists, history and repertory, with an emphasis on classical ballet technique and key elements of ABT's National Training Curriculum. ABT's Summer Intensives are the primary recruitment tool for the ABT Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis School and the ABT Studio Company. ABT faculty for the Summer Intensive includes Franco De Vita, Artistic Director of the ABT Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis School, Raymond Lukens, Director of ABT's National Training Curriculum and Kate Lydon, ABT Studio Company Director, as well as renowned ABT alumni and faculty including Charles Askegard, Julie Bickerton Bravata, Ethan Brown, Gabrielle Brown, Leslie Browne, Deirdre Carberry, Wes Chapman, Yan Chen, Harriet Clark, Olga Dvorovenko, Carmela Gallace, Melissa Hale Coyle, Alaine Haubert, Mikhail Ilyin, Lorin Johnson, Susan Jones, Susan Jaffe, Ted Kivitt, Pamela Levy, Carlos Lopez, Clinton Luckett, Orlando Molina, Colleen O'Callaghan, Nancy Raffa, Amy Rose, Rosanna Seravalli, Lupe Serrano, Lisa Slagle, Christine Spizzo-Serrano, Samantha Shelton, Carla Stallings Lippert, Roger Van Fleteran, Cheryl Yeager and Jennet Zerbe.

American Ballet Theatre's Collegiate Summer Intensive will be held at ABT's New York headquarters, June 1 – 19, 2015. This specialized program, designed for students ages 17 to 24, will focus on technique, ABT repertory, pointe work, partnering, modern dance, composition and choreography. College credit options are available. Applicants for the Collegiate Summer Intensive may audition at any of the Summer Intensive audition sites or by video.

American Ballet Theatre's Young Dancer Summer Workshop will take place at ABT's New York studios, July 27 – August 7, 2015 and in San Jose, California, from June 15 – June 26, 2015. Beginning this year, a new young dancer program will be offered in partnership with the Segerstrom Center for the Arts in Orange County, California, from June 29 – July 10, 2015. These programs educate young dancers, ages 9 to 12, in ballet technique and related topics including nutrition, ballet terminology, classroom and rehearsal etiquette and injury prevention.

Auditions for ABT's Summer Intensives are open to male and female students who have achieved intermediate or advanced levels of ballet training. Applicants for the Collegiate Summer Intensive may also audition at any of the audition sites. Applicants for the Young Dancer Summer Workshop may audition at select sites. Merit based scholarships will be granted during the ABT Summer Intensive Tour. Scholarships are available for both ABT's Summer Intensive Program and ABT's Young Dance Summer Workshop.
