Award-winning Polish-German choreographer Patricia Noworol leads her dance theater troupe in a three-day run at New York Live Arts' Theater with the world premiere of Replacement Place. Known for her layered storytelling and provocative productions, Noworol continues to create visually striking, emotionally charged displays of dance-theater and multimedia performances that demand rigor and passion.

As evident in Replacement Place, Noworol is "fond of emotional and physical extremes" (New York Times). Replacement Place explores the impact of the unfamiliar alongside the everyday: One's complex understanding of a known landscape, and the exchange of competing ideas that is the core of our social interaction. With destructive playfulness, the work challenges the relationships and power structures that arise out of subjective acts of intimacy and violence. "I am lucky to have such vulnerable and talented artists willing to explore this ferocious, fiery athleticism with me," explains Patricia Noworol.

Three dancers and one musician co-inhabit the space, melding destructively playful and highly physical movement styles to create a dynamic exposure of how we navigate a disoriented existence. The cast is comprised of a wide-range of artists working in different creative mediums and dance styles: the leading characters of the popular Punchdrunk production Sleep No More, Troy Ogilvie (named Top 25 to Watch by Dance Magazine in 2011) and Nick Bruder (Falstaff Award for Best Principal Performance in 2011); the hip-hop stylings of Brooklyn dancer/rapper AJ "The Animal" Jonez (Animal Animation Flex artist); and electro-cellist Chris Lancaster (former music director for Bill T. Jones/Arnie Zane Dance Company), who also composed the production's original score. Lighting design by Greg Goff (former designer for musicians: Nelly Furtado, Girl Talk, Green Day, and The Band Perry to name a few) and costumes/scenic design by Vita Tzykun (contributing art director to Lady Gaga, Courtney Love, and others).

According to Lancaster, the music is comprised of fragmented musical memories of himself and the dancers, creating a stream of consciousness tone. "The result is a personal, transparent and in-the-moment musical map of the group's subconscious, core fears and dreams."
