Renowned puppet and mask maker Ralph Lee will present his Mettawee River Theatre Company in "OUT OF THE PAST: Celebrating 40 Years of the Mettawee Journey," a feast of excerpts from four decades of Company productions. Not a dance concert, but an amazing visual event, with an abundance of Lee's masks, puppets and giant figures. Program will include scenes from "Taliesin," adapted from a medieval Welsh tale; "The Old Boat Goddess," traditional stories about the indigenous Ainu people of Japan," "Communications from a Cockroach," based on tales of Archy and Mehitabel; "The Caucasian Chalk Circle," adapted from Brecht. Lee's creations have been seen at the Living Theatre, Metropolitan Opera, Lincoln Center Repertory Theatre, even Saturday Night Live (that naughty "Land Shark"). Presented in the Outdoor Garden of the Cathedral of St. John the Divine, 111th St. & Amsterdam (not in the main cathedral). Performances Sept. 11-13 at 7:30 PM - perfect for all ages.
