New York Theatre Ballet announces The Byer Legacy Celebration on Friday, October 7, 2016 at 6:30pm at St. Marks Church-in-the-Bowery, 131 East 10th Street, NYC, to celebrate the 70th birthday of NYTB Founder & Artistic Director, Diana Byer during the company’s Fall 2016 Danspace Project season. The event will begin with a cocktail party in the St. Mark's garden followed by a performance in Danspace Project featuring new works created especially for the event by Alexandra Damiani, former Artistic Director of Cedar Lake, David Parker & The Bang Group, Marco Pelle choreographing a new solo on American Ballet Theatre soloist Luciana Paris, Antonia Franceschi with a new solo for Romany Pajdak from London’s Royal Ballet, and Gemma Bond’s Depuis Le Jour danced by American Ballet Theatre’s Devon Teuscher and Calvin Royal III. Former NYTB principal dancers Christina Paolucci and Terence Duncan, current NYTB principal Elena Zahlmann and Ms. Byer will dance a revival of Antony Tudor’s Judgment of Paris. Popular DJ, Imogene Strauss, will lead post-performance dancing in Danspace. Proceeds raised from the event will support the new Diana Byer Legacy Campaign.
