Prima ballerina Diana Vishneva will star in the East Coast premiere of Diana Vishneva – Beauty in Motion, February 21 - 24, 2008 at New York City Center. The International ballet star will perform a program of new ballets created for her by three distinct choreographers: Alexei Ratmansky, Moses Pendleton and Dwight Rhoden. Joining her for these performances are Desmond Richardson and members of the Kirov Opera, Ballet and Orchestra.

Alexei Ratmansky, artistic director of the Bolshoi Ballet, will stage a new version of Pierrot Lunaire set to Arnold Schoenberg's song cycle Pierrot Lunaire (performed in German by Kirov mezzo-soprano Elena Sommer). The cycle, which premiered in 1912, was for soprano and orchestral ensemble, and is based on poems by Albert Giraud. For Pierrot Lunaire, Ms. Vishneva will be joined by Kirov members Igor Kolb, Mikhail Lobukhin and Alexander Sergeev, accompanied by members of the Kirov Orchestra, conducted by Mikhail Tatarnikov.

Dwight Rhoden is choreographing Three Point Turn, set to a commissioned score for electronic and live percussion by David Rozenblatt, who will perform live. The piece will be performed by Ms. Vishneva and former Alvin Ailey dancer Desmond Richardson, (performing together for the first time), along with members of the Kirov Ballet.

Moses Pendleton, artistic director of Momix, will choreograph F.L.O.W. (For Love of Women) (Note: this is a change from previously released title). F.L.O.W. (For Love of Women), a solo piece in three segments, with music by zero One, Lisa Gerrard and Deva Premal and special costumes and props by puppeteer and Tony Award-winner (The Lion King) Michael Curry. F.L.O.W. (For Love of Women) utilizes mirrors, black lights, and illusion to create transforming images of Woman.
