Cor PerdutSensual and fiery moves are inspired by the hypnotic and syncopated music of Tunisian percussion instruments in this dynamic work by Nacho Duato. He created this piece for the famous Majorcan singer, Maria del Mar Bonet, whose haunting voice brings depth and dimension to this powerful masterpiece. …sheer ravishing, sensual dancing…was so full of urgency, so intense, so completely breathtaking that it often felt as if the two dancers had morphed into brushes and ink and were simply spelling out magical words in elaborate Arabic calligraphy.Hedy Weiss, Chicago Sun-Times, March 2004 …a duet of immense sensuality and lyricism…lush joyful sense of motion…a marvel of articulation.Hedy Weiss, Chicago Sun-Times, March 2003 Nacho Duato (Choreographer) was born in Valencia, Spain, in 1957 and trained with the Rambert School in London, Maurice Béjart's Mundra School in Brussels and the Alvin Ailey American Dance Center in New York. In 1980 Duato joined the Cullberg Ballet in Stockholm. One year later Jirí Kylián brought him to the Nederlands Dans Theater in Holland, where he was named resident choreographer in 1988. Since June 1990, Duato has been artistic director of Compañía Nacional de Danza (Spain), where he has created several works, including Concierto Madrigal, Opus Piat, Empty, Coming Together, Mediterrania, Cautiva and Tabulae. In 1998, the Spanish government awarded Duato the Golden Medal for Merit in Fine Arts. Peter and Karen Lennon are the Exclusive Underwriters for Cor Perdut.
